CANVAS & CLOTHIER was formed in December 2021 by two experienced and successful women in the retail industry.

Jillian Kaufman Grano founded Utility Canvas in 1990 and has spent the past thirty years developing this lifestyle brand. With a background in art and economics, the brand was created when Kaufman Grano recognized a niche in the market for well made, practical and versatile designs that never forsake style. All products are produced in the USA, and canvas is the sole ingredient for men’s and women’s clothing, home furnishings, and bags. With wholesale customers world-wide, the brand has exhibited a broad appeal and staying power that overrides trends. Jillian has owned and operated retail stores in NYC and Tokyo.

MaryVaughn Williams started Hudson Clothier after a successful twenty-three year run as designer and founder of White Rice, a women’s clothing brand made in Indonesia and sold to hundred stores from Hawaii to Puerto Rico. With Hudson Clothier she has curated a 2,500 square foot boutique of exclusively American made goods for men and women. The shop in Hudson, NY is a slice of Americana that is grounded in strong values as well as sophistication and is a welcoming experience for visitors and locals alike. MaryVaughn Williams has owned and operated Hudson Clothier since 2014.
